The Rev. Bill Byers (on the right) was appointed Incumbent of the Parish of St. Thomas the Apostle on August 1, 2005. Bill comes to this parish from the Parish of Morrisburg-Iroquois-Riverside Heights where for 9 years he served as the Incumbent of this parish with its three congregations along the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Bill graduated from Montreal Diocesan Theological College at McGill University in Montreal and began his ordained ministry in the Diocese of Ottawa in 1992. He served for four years as the Assistant Curate at St. Stephen's Church in Ottawa West.

Bill is a graduate of the University of Guelph where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree. He then completed a Bachelor in Education program at Queen's University and taught high school Biology and Chemistry for 21 years. During this time he served as a Department Head for most of that time and was involved in many curriculum development opportunities at the local, provincial, national and international levels.

The Ven. Ralph Smith (on the left), is our Honourary Assistant. Ralph has been a priest for 53 years in the Diocese of Ottawa and brings a wealth of experience to this parish. He is devoted, caring pastor. We are very blessed to have Ralph in our midst.

The most recent addition to our team, is our part-time Assistant Curate, The Rev. George Kwari. Father George is a priest of the Anglican Diocese of Manicaland in Zimbabwe and has recently been granted permission to function as a priest in the Diocese of Ottawa.

Fr. George has been one of two priests serving a large multi-racial and multi-ethnic congregation at the Anglican Cathedral in the city of Mutare in Zimbabwe. The Kwari family came to Canada in early November, 2007.

Bill, George and Ralph look forward to welcoming you to St. Thomas the Apostle. We offer a wide range of opportunities for worship and broad array of programs for people of all ages from infants to seniors. You are always welcome at St. Thomas the Apostle.
