St. Thomas is blessed with a fine choir that leads the congregation in song and offers a regular anthem. The choir presents a variety of music. One Sunday you might hear a choral classic by Bach or Handel; the next a rhythmic piece by a contemporary Canadian composer. Several of our choir members are dedicated singers who have sung in church choirs since childhood and also make music with community ensembles. Others are just beginning their musical adventures as choral singers. The choir practices twice a week – on Thursdays evenings and again on Sundays before the 10 a.m. service – under the direction of our choir director. Choir music is not regarded as a performance but as an offering to God. The choir’s goal is therefore to present an offering that is as beautiful and polished as possible. Singing in the choir provides an opportunity to make new friends while experiencing the shared satisfaction of a job well done. If you have a good singing voice and are willing to make a serious commitment to practice, the St. Thomas Choir provides a wonderful opportunity to make music.
