Our new community garden has had an excellent first year! Three parish members and one neighbourhood family have taken plots, as have the St Thomas Nursery School and the firefighters from the nearby fire station. Several parish members have volunteered to look after the St Thomas plots. The St Thomas scout troop has donated rain barrels. A parish member has made a beautiful garden sign, and others have assembled an attractive storage shed. It is truly a campus garden! A condition of plot holding is that at least ten per cent of all produce is donated to the Heron Emergency Food Centre, our local food bank. We have delivered hundreds of tomatoes to HEFC, as well as a stream of carrots, squash, radishes, beets and other veggies.

We are turning our attention to end-of-season care, and preparing for next year. We are looking to expand!
